Our History

Celebrating over 120 years of service to the community, Margaret Lynn Lewis Chapter, NSDAR, was organized in 1894 by Mrs. Lelia Maria Smith Cocke in Roanoke, Virginia.

Behind the Name

The chapter is named after the mother of General Andrew Lewis of Salem, Virginia. General Lewis is known as the leader of the militia of the Battle of Point Pleasant at the confluence of the Kanawha and Ohio Rivers.
