Our History
Celebrating over 120 years of service to the community, Dorothea Henry Chapter, NSDAR, was organized in 1894 by Mrs. Sallie Penn in Danville, Virginia.
Behind the Name
The chapter is named for Dorothea Spotswood Dandridge Henry Winston, who was married to Patrick Henry and became the first First Lady of Virginia. The name was chosen to commemorate the woman who maintained the Henry household under the great stress and hardships of the Revolutionary War.
